IVA : Spending On Cards Hits Record Level.
Christmas 2006 saw the amount of money spent on credit cards rise to a new record.
There were a massive 250 transactions every second, throughout the whole month of December, according to figures just released by Apacs the UK payments association.
Shoppers managed to spend an incredible £31 Billion on their credit and debit cards in December alone, which is a rise of almost 9% compared to the same period in 2005.
However, the amount of money spent on credit cards fell slightly to £11.4 Billion, compared to £11.5 Billion in 2005, and a decrease of 4% of actual credit card transactions, with 205 million transactions in 2005 down to 197 million in 2006.
